Vocabulary

Backlit Panels

Also called: Glow walls, illuminated feature panels

A translucent surface, onyx, acrylic, stretched film or printed glass, lit evenly from behind so the whole plane glows. The wall itself becomes the light source.

Where it works

  • Bar backs and reception backdrops
  • Spa and wellness interiors
  • Jewellery and retail displays
  • Corridors that need drama without fixtures

Where it fails

  • Rooms that need true darkness, since a big glowing plane dominates
  • Uneven walls, where hotspots show through
  • Tight budgets: even lighting is what costs, not the panel

Rough cost

₹700 to ₹3,000 per sq ft by surface, installed
